Advice for parents during coronavirus

Whilst coronavirus is infectious to children it is rarely serious. If your child is unwell it is likely to be a non-coronavirus illness, rather than coronavirus itself.

    Covid Vaccinations Update

We are please to say most our patients aged 78 and above have been offered the Covid vaccination and had it given at Brackley Medical Centre. There are a few more to give in that age bracket who for various reasons could not receive it first time round. We are in the process of contacting them with new dates. We also have vaccinated the patients who were well enough to have it, in the Care Homes that we look after. Also the care home staff. We are hoping to receive small quantities of the Astra Zeneca vaccine in the near future, which we are hopeful will enable us to vaccinate our patients at the Brook Health Centre. We are at the mercy of the supply chain, so cannot say when that will be. Our next group of patients to be called for their vaccination when all of the existing cohort are done, will be 75+. Please be assured, when we receive deliveries or Brackley MC receive the vaccine, we will be contacting patients to offer appointments.

    Covid 19 Vaccinations

Covid vaccinations have now started throughout the country. The program is being rolled out gradually as vaccines become available. At the moment the BHC will not be a site to administer the vaccine as it will only be delivered to one central large practice. Brackley Medical Centre will be our dedicated site. The first batch of Covid vaccines were given last week 29-31st December for those in the age bracket 84 yrs +. We are planning to send some of our nurses to help administer the vaccine. Our PCN group of practices (Towcester MC , Brook HC, Springfield and Brackley) are phase 4 and the PCN is hoping to get another delivery of 975 vaccines to Brackley Medical Centre this week to enable vaccination clinics 7-9th January. It can however change according to deliveries. Some invites will be done by text message asking for you to book via a link. Those without a mobile phone will be called by us to arrange an appointment. Unfortunately, these appointments will always be with short notice, but it is out of our control as we can only book as we are informed of delivery. We are hoping that the newly approved Oxford vaccine will soon be available to us and we will be able to administer the vaccine at the Brook Health Centre. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Corona Virus Update

Now that we are in another lockdown for at least a month, we have locked our doors again for the safety of patients and staff. PLEASE BE ASSURED WE ARE NOT CLOSED. There is a bell to ring and a receptionist will open the door, take your temperature and check all is well with you before you enter the building. We would ask that the minimum number of people come into the surgery, so please come alone for your appointment if possible. Carers and parents excepted of course. The present system will continue and all patients will be screened by a telephone call and if needed a video call arranged or face to face appointment. Please continue to bring your mask with you. Many thanks.
